Local mum Donna Dunn is organising a Santa Run in memory of her daughter Emily Clark who died earlier this year.

The event, which starts at The Olive Tree in Croesyceiliog on December 10, will raise money for blood cancer charity Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) - a charity close to Emily’s heart.

Supported by Western Power Distribution, the 5k fun run is suitable for people of all ages. Both Donna and Bloodwise are encouraging as many people as possible to join in and turn up dressed as Santa. All funds raised will go towards research into blood cancers.

Rachael Davies, Regional Manager Wales for Bloodwise said, “Last year Emily was able to attend the Santa Run and, although she wasn’t well enough to take part, she cheered on the runners as they went through their warm up. She wanted to make it an annual fundraising event for Bloodwise.

“We’re glad we can support Donna in organising the run this year in Emily’s memory. There is a lot of interest in it already.”

Western Power Distribution’s Corporate Communication Manager, Paul Bishop added, “We are delighted to support Bloodwise and we hope lots of people will sign up for Santa Run to help support this worthwhile charity and at the same time have great fun.”
