Abergavenny will attract some of the world’s best producers and chefs for this year’s Food Festival (September 16 - 18) with Masterchef: The Professionals presenter Monica Galetti top of the bill.

Opening the festival in the Borough Theatre on Friday September 16, the former Le Gavroche senior sous-chef will talk exclusively about her new book ‘The Skills.’

“This will be the first opportunity for people to get their hands on my book before its release on October 6, which is very exciting,” she said. “It’s been several years in the making and a real labour of love, so I’m looking forward to sharing some of the techniques and recipes with the audience.”

Joining the headliners is one of the Basque Country’s greatest chef exports, the critically acclaimed and award winning, José Pizarro.

José will be sharing his culinary secrets for perfecting Spanish cuisine with recipes from his most recent book, ‘Basque’.

“Abergavenny is a fantastic food festival, so much so that I go every year,” he said. “It’s packed with fabulous products and is filled with some of my favourite foodie friends.

“I love Wales too; it is very much in my heart. Abergavenny is an incredible festival to be a part of.”

Adding to the international mix is festival favourite and award winning Cafe Spice Namaste restaurant owner and chef, Cyrus Todiwala who returns to the festival for the fourteenth year to talk about his new book ‘Mr. Todiwala’s Spice Box.’

“Abergavenny Food Festival has drawn us in year after year. Pervin and I love it, our team and friends love it, and we love everything about it,” he said.

“What we love most is the people; our loyal and new customers. It’s a high point of our annual calendar and we can’t wait to see what surprises this year has in store.”

Also returning for her tenth year is chef and food writer Jane Baxter promoting the new ‘Leon: Happy Salads’ book.

“It’s the best food festival in the world for lots of reasons – the location, the different venues and range of events… For me, it’s a chance to meet up with old friends and make new ones,” she said.

The full line-up will be announced in July but tickets to the headline events and weekend wristbands are available now.
