LAST night saw the return of Abergavenny Food Festival’s traditional Community Feast which was held at Abergavenny’s Market Hall and deemed a tremendous success by organisers.
The team at the Angel Bakery served up delicious sharer-style platters of Pen-y-Wyrlod organic lamb, panzanella, roasted new potatoes and salads, their own bread and a delicious summer berry Pavlova, for over 250 people of the hugely supportive local community to enjoy.
Sat at long banquet tables, this was a chance for locals to come together for an evening of feasting and celebration before visitors to this, the 19th edition of the Abergavenny Food Festival arrive in town for the weekend.
The feast was held as a thank you event for the town for their continued support and energy on and around the festival weekend, and to celebrate the installation of this year’s Market Hall decorations in the form of enormous chickens and vegetable bunting, created by over 60 different Arts Alive Wales staff and volunteers pledging over 1,800 hours to the project.
With two feasting songs by Abercapella and music Allan Yn Y Fan, the evening was a vibrant community event and a reflection of what we hope will resonate throughout the whole festival weekend.
Access to the Abergavenny Food Festival is with a weekend or day wristband (excluding ticketed events) which can be purchased from any of the box offices around town during the festival.
