A quiz night will kick-start farming charity RABI’s fundraising activities in Monmouthshire in 2017.
The Monmouthshire committee of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is holding its second quiz night at Maria’s award winning mart café at Monmouthshire Livestock Centre on Thursday January 19. ??RABI is a welfare charity which helps farmers and farmworkers of all ages, giving out grants of around £2 million each year. Much of the funding comes from public donations, events arranged by county committees and support from businesses and community groups. During 2016, the?157-year-old charity gave out around £14,500 in Monmouthshire to farming people in financial need. ??Quizmaster at the mart café will be David Hughes-Jones, a member of last year’s winning team. Entry is by pre-ordered ticket only and a meal of sausage & chips and a homemade pudding is included in the £10 ticket price. A bar will be open on the night. ??RABI regional manager for Wales, Linda Jones, said, “Last year’s quiz night at the Monmouthshire Livestock Centre was very successful and we look forward to another super evening of fun and food. I’d like to thank all the partners and staff at the Livestock Centre for their continued support of our work helping farming families.”
RABI Monmouthshire county chairman Gwilym Richards added, “Last year’s quiz was this committee’s first fundraising event and we were heartened by the response of local people. I hope that people will get behind us again.”
Kate Beavan, Monmouthshire RABI county committee secretary, said, “The Monmouthshire farming community has supported us extremely well during our first year. Tickets for the quiz are going quickly so please book as soon as possible.”
