A 44 year old Tredegar man died in a fatal road traffic collision on the A449 southbound, near Usk on Sunday

The collision was reported to police at at 5.39 am and involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian died at the scene and a 41 year old man from Monmouth was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and is currently in police custody.

The southbound carriageway is currently closed whilst officers are carrying out their investigation.
