A man and a woman allegedly attacked an elderly man before stealing his bank card and Land Rover on Valentine’s Day.

Police said they stopped a 35-year-old woman, and a man, 27, near Llanfoist, around one hour after the robbery on Thursday evening.

A police spokesman told the Chronicle, “We received reports of a robbery at an address in Merthyr Road, Abergavenny. An elderly male had been assaulted, before his bank card and keys to a Land Rover were stolen. The vehicle was then driven off.

 

“Officers stopped the vehicle near Llanfoist, Abergavenny. A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and drink-driving. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Both are from the Abergavenny area, and remain in custody at this time.”

 

The victim’s injuries are not thought to be serious.
