Eight fire crews have been at the scene of a blaze at the ITW Foils factory in Blaenavon.
Crews were called to the site - which is on the Kays and Kears Industrial Estate at around 1.30pm today (Monday) and it is understood that at the height of the blaze around 80 firefighters at the scene.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue, said that water bowsers and aerial ladders were used and a chemical incident unit had been called, although it was later confirmed that no chemicals were involved in the blaze.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze in a decommissioned part of the factory, although there are believed to have been no suspicious circumstances.
The fire was brought under control by late afternoon. There were no casualties. Jeff Scrivens of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said; “Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) were committed to the building to prevent internal fire spread. This tactic prevented the fire spreading.All persons were evacuated to a place of safety .
