TWO local groups have received £500 cheques thanks to the work of the Abergavenny Flower Arrangement Society.

To help mark its Emerald Anniversary, the society presented the Borough Theatre, and Abergavenny Guides with the donations at a tea party held at the Angel Hotel recently .

Mrs Lucy Powell, president of the group, handed one of the cheques to over to Mrs Thelma Booth, guide leader and chairman of Friends of Abergavenny Guiding and to representatives of the town’s Borough Theatre.

Dr. Marise Harrell, the Society’s publicity member, said the afternoon was part of a long history of charitable giving steeped in the group’s history.

The Abergavenny Flower Arrangement Society meets every second Thursday of the month, at the Guide Hall in Abergavenny.
