Staff from GD Environmental have taken on the role of Father Christmas this week by visiting children in Nevill Hall Hospital with early presents to ensure they’re in the festive spirit despite their strange surroundings.
Using a brightly decorated skip to carry all the parcels, the team met the children and their families and distributed a range of gifts.
The presents have been funded through GD Environmental and its staff, family and friends, along with donations from its partners including Talywain Salvage.
Oliver Hazell, CEO of GD Environmental explained, “We were absolutely delighted to visit all the children in Nevill Hall Hospital and bring some joy into their lives as Christmas draws near. It was wonderful to see their faces and to witness the impact an early Christmas present had. Our partners from across South Wales have provided great support in the initiative and have helped us gather all the presents needed. It really has been a team effort.
“We’d also like to thank the staff at the hospital, who do an amazing job, for allowing us to visit and giving us the chance to meet all the fantastic children.”
After seeing her daughter, who is a patient at Nevill Hall, receiving her early Christmas present, Tracey James said, “It’s lovely to see Santa come to the hospital, most of these children are not going to have the chance to see Santa this Christmas and having him come here really has lifted all of the family’s spirits”
Partners involved in the special delivery included Dunn Mechanical, Commercial Motors, Estuary Oils, Mt Barnsley, Harding Evans Solicitors, ETB Tyres, Thomas Recruitment, LSG Creative, AP Waters Building Contractors, Ford Fuels, Michelin, Spotlessly Clean, Fleet Wheel, Total Workwear and Standard Signs.
Along with Nevill Hall Hospital the team also delivered presents to children in the Children’s Hospital for Wales, Cardiff, the Royal Gwent, Newport, and Morriston, Swansea, ensuring as many children as possible from across South Wales experienced some early Christmas cheer.
