Thieves broke into a popular coffee shop on Neville Street, sometime between Tuesday night, and Wednesday (today) morning.

Smashing a window, an unknown person broke into the Coffee Pot before stealing a quantity of cash.

The Coffee Pot, which has won awards for its service and popularity with the local community, was forced to keep its doors whilst police forensics dusted the windows.

This incident numbers one of a spate of similar incidents in which burglars have targeted Abergavenny businesses.

A police spokesperson told the Chronicle, “At approximately 5 am on Wednesday 13th February, Gwent Police were called to reports of a burglary on Nevill Street, Abergavenny.

“The burglary is thought to have happened sometime overnight. Entry was gained via force to a front window and a quantity of cash was taken.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
