Free entry to Saturday’s Gala Concert at the Borough Theatre has resulted in a welcome rush for tickets. “There are a few tickets left at the Box Office” said Helen Middleton, the concert organiser, “and we’re delighted that so many have already taken up the free offer this year.”
Topping the bill are Cantref School Children’s Choir, winners of the Douglas and Edna Edwards Shield at April’s youth eisteddfod. Three acts chosen by the adjudicators from the 11-18 age group follow: local sisters Katie and Lisa Davies playing a soulful Saint-Saëns flute and harp duet, Oliver Skinner from Caldicot singing Empty Chairs and Empty Tables from Les Miserables, and Bethan Langford from Crickhowell with a passionate rendition of Andreyev’s Serpent’s Tale.
The choir competition only attracted one entry, so the Chepstow Chatelaines will have the opportunity to perform.
