APPARENTLY quite a few bits of computer information

and files have gone missing in recent months from

government departments - useless information such

as personal banking details, tax records, prison

records, driver license data etc have been stolen or

just plain lost.

Casual security is blamed for this loss of information

that does not appear to faze the government one iota.

This may be expected as the government will shortly

attempt to persuade the nation to have identity cards

that will contain data that if stolen from a government

establishment might have drastic consequences for

individuals but which the government insist could

never happen.

Some of these lost disks, computer memory sticks and

even laptop computers contain not kilobytes of

memory or even megabytes of memory but substantial

gigabytes of memory.

It has also been claimed, although not yet

substantiated, that the Welsh Assembly Government

has also lost a computer memory stick containing all

the details of our Assembly Members achievements

and expertise.

Allegedly, the police are now looking for a memory

stick smaller than the smallest needle, with a memory

capacity approaching ten bytes of memory- nearly

enough to fill one line of normal print.

A police officer suggested that WAG might be held in

contempt by the public or charged with wasting police

time - when the police stop laughing.
