AT the recent South–East Wales schools cross country championships, the King Henry VIII girls did the double by winning both the individual champion and county team champions title.

Out of the 101 athletes who took part, Lauren Stockley (year seven) came first with Felisha Lewis, fourth, Megan James, sixth and Grace Waters, nineteenth.

As a result Lauren Stockley was crowned county individual champion, with King Henry VIII school finishing as county team champions.

In the combined category of year eight and nine girls, Isobel Parry Jones stormed through the opposition to take first place, Ffion James came fourth, Bryony Gething tenth and Mali Atkins twentieth.

The top six King Henry girls will now be automatically selected for the Welsh Schools Championships in March, and the top 15 will receive invitations for the County in January.
