WITH the Christmas lights due to be switched on in Abergavenny tonight (Thursday) the team at the Abergavenny Chronicle is inviting readers and advertisers to join them at the Nevill Street office for a festive glass of mulled wine and a mince pie courtesy of Kath and her team at the Market Bakery.
"We’ve had lots of changes at the Chronicle lately and we’d love to invite our readers in the meet the team especially our new general manager Dean Amos and our regional director Attracta Astley," said Chronicle editor Liz Davies.
"We’ll be opening the doors from 3.30pm onwards so if you’re passing on your way to the Christmas lights switch on, please call in and say hello."
The open afternoon will also feature a very special performance from members of the Llantilio Pertholey School choir and local singer-songwriter Rob Westall.
In addition to singing a selection of Christmas songs, the choir will also be giving one of the first performances of a brand new Christmas carol specially written by former Chronicle reporter Rob.
"We’ll also be launching our very special Christmas Appeal which we are running in partnership with Annie Hartwright of local business Ethnic Elegance," said Liz.
Later in the evening, the town’s Christmas festivities will kick off with a Lantern Parade, the traditional visit from Santa on his sleigh and even a special appearance from members of the Paw Patrol.
The fun starts with the Lantern Parade which leaves the Brewery Yard at 5.30 before making its way to Frogmore Street for the grand switch on.
The evening continues with the chance to enjoy the best of Abergavenny Market - and maybe sample some more of Kath’s mince pies - at the town hall’s monthly Artisan Market.
