LAST season's Premier Division champions kicked off the 2011/12 Gwent Central League programme with a 3-3 draw at the home of Tranch.

Tranch's Andrew Pollard was sent off in the 25th minute, so the home team were down to ten men for most of the match, but they still managed to go into the interval 2-1 to the good.

Llanarth's Jamie Edwards snatched a last minute equalizer to make it honours even at the end of play.

Llanarth's other goals came via Luke Williams and Gavin Phillips.

Man of the match for Llanarth was Steve Morgan.

Llanarth went one better on Saturday when they beat Blaenavon Blues 3-2. Jamie Edwards, Thomas Jones, and Steve Morgan all scored for Llanarth.

Blaenavon's strike came from Marc Browning and Ben Bellie.

Man of the match for the Blues was Ashley Brown.

Man of the match for Llanarth was Mark Batt.

In midweek, last season's Division One champions Govilon added to the Blues misery by thrashing them 6-0.

Andrew Ewers and Craig Norman scored to give Govilon a 2-0 half-time lead, and alongside Craig Phillips and Ryan Smith, Andrew Ewers and man of the match Stuart Norman were on hand in the second-half to strike and make it a rout.

Man of the match for Blaenavon was Joe Prince.

Govilon's winning trend continue on Saturday when they won 3-4 away to local rival Mardy.

Aaron Marfell (2) and Owen Edwards both netted for Mardy but they were outdone by Govilon, as Chris Morgan bagged a brace and Stuart Norman and Ryan Smith scored one apiece.

Man of the match for Mardy was Ryan Price.

Man of the match for Govilon was Chris Morgan.

In midweek Usk welcomed PILCS to the 'Island" and despite giving away a soft 0-2 lead, Usk bounced back with a brace from Will Barton and a solo effort from Daniel Jones to win the day 3-2.

On Saturday Usk had another 3-2 win, this time over Panteg. Charlie Risk, Will Barton and David Egerton all said 'hello' to the back of the Panteg net.

Man of the match for Usk in both matches was Daniel Jones.

In midweek, Pandy won 2-1 at Lower Meadow against a visiting Clydach Wasps outfit. Steven Hollingworth scored with a header to give Pandy a 1-0 half-time lead. After the interval Dan Richards bagged Pandy's second and Jasper Morgan managed to pull a goal back for the Wasps.

Man of the match for Pandy was Robert Didcote.

Man of the match for CLydach Wasps was Doran Reanes.

On Saturday Pandy made it two wins out of two with a 3-1 home win over Fairfield Utd.

Man of the match Steven Hollingworth bagged a brace and Mark Hughes chipped in with a solo effort.

Llanfoist had a fine 1-5 away win over Crickhowell with Nicky Hammett (2), Andly slater (2), and Benji Clark all doing the damage. Thomas Richards scored the consolation goal fro Crickhowell.

Man of the match for Llanfoist was Luke Ewers.

Man of the match for Crickhowell was Gavin Baynton.

Llanfoist's game against PILCS on Saturday ended honours even at 2-2. Llanfoist's strikes came from man of the match Nicholas Hammett and Michael Davies.

In midweek Gilwern and District lost 0-2 at home to Mardy after Aaron Marfell and Owen Vaughan did the neccessary.

Man of the match for Gilwern was Adam Carrington.

Man of the match for Mardy was keeper Nathan Holly.

On Saturday Gilwern bounced back with a vengance to beat Tranch 6-0. Mike Randall scored a hat-trick, man of the match Adam Carrington got his brace and Kieran Shevlin added his name to the scorecard.

On Saturday Clydach Wasps beat Crickhowel 5-3 after Luke Welsh (2), Ben Ward (2), and SImon Tippins all did the damage. Owen Jones (2) and Thomas Richards scored for Crickhowell.
