The Goose and Cuckoo Inn’s annual music and beer festival – Goose Stock - returns to the popular Upper Llanover pub on Sunday 26th August.

It is one of two annual festivals the CAMRA Rural Pub of the Year 2018 hosts, with Goose Fest always held on a May bank holiday Sunday.

The live music for Goose Stock starts from 12noon with performances by The Bay Rum Hounds, The Mike Parker Band (of Stone Sole River), Hungry Grass and Tequila Mocking Bird.

There will be a bbq, hog roast and a selection of guest ales brewed by local independent breweries.

At last year’s event more than 600 people turned up at the rural pub, sinking up to 2,000 pints and countless spirits.

Due to the popularity of the guest ales, the Goose is serving up more choices than ever before and will be revealing the beer menu via its Facebook page in the run up to the festival. One of the pub’s two landladies, Sue Finch, says the signs for this year’s event look equally as promising with all accommodation it provides already booked up.

“It looks like we’re are in for another tremendous Goose Stock,” said Sue.

“It’s always a great atmosphere and people come from all over the UK. This year the B&B and cottage annex are fully booked with some guests coming all the way from London.

“We currently have a few camping pitches available in the field, but anyone hoping to camp is advised to phone the pub first to ensure these are still available.”
