A LOCAL establishment has won The Good Pub Guide County Dining Pub of the Year 2010 for Wales.
The Hardwick, owned by Stephen and Joanna Terry was praised for its use of local ingredients, extensive menus and quality and value for money. The Good Pub Guide is in its 28th year of publication and is completely independent. Fiona Stapley, one of the Editors at The Good Pub Guide said of the Awards, "With so many innovative chefs working in the country's top dining pubs, our task of choosing a County Dining Pub can be extremely difficult. What we are really looking for is a pub where people truly enjoy eating out – and a lot can depend on atmosphere as well as the quality of the food.
"Our job is helped by our inner core of 2,000 readers who write to us regularly and have done so for many years. They help us enormously with their up-to-date feedback on pubs all over the country, and help us build up a detailed picture of how each place is doing, particularly with regard to food. This plus our own inspection meals and menus from the pubs themselves help choose the cream of each county's Dining Pub winner."
