I write to thank the organisers of the Bryn y Cwm Community Forum 'Any Question Time' held at the Angel Hotel last Thursday. It was an interesting and lively evening!

I was able to ask the question, 'Abergavenny is a famous market town and derives significant benefit, both cultural and financial from the Livestock and Produce markets. Does the panel think the people of Abergavenny should be able to decide the location of the new Livestock market, so it can be retained in the immediate Abergavenny area, for the benefit of all?'

The majority of the panel was in favour of retaining the market in Abergavenny rather than moving it nine miles down the road to the Raglan area, and thereby losing the economic benefit the town enjoys at present. The mood of the audience also seemed to be in favour of not losing the market.

I urge those who wish to retain the livestock market in the Abergavenny vicinity, when the present site is developed to contact their councillors, AMs, MP, and the newspapers and make their democratic voice heard, before the Monmouthshire County Council plans change the character of the town forever and despoil a greenfield site with an inappropriate development.
