This year will see Pontypool Community Council celebrate its 21st Inter-Schools Eisteddfod. The first Eisteddfod was held in 1999.

A two day event with students participating from Pontypool Primary Schools in solo and group singing and recitation through the medium of Welsh, with instrumental and Welsh folk country dancing contests

This year 8 primary schools will be participating over the two days and local dignitaries will be attending each day and will present the trophies to the winners. The winners receive vouchers and a trophy to keep and display in school for one year.

The trophies have been sponsored by local businesses, local residents, Torfaen County Borough Council departments, Pontypool Community Council and Lord Murphy of Torfaen.

The event is a local celebration of Welsh culture.
