Abergavenny-based Longtown Mountain Rescue team was called out on Saturday afternoon to help an injured biker on a hilltop near Blaenavon.

Gwent Police called in the rescue specialists after the local man suffered leg injuries 1,700ft up on Varteg hill.

He was treated at the scene by a team doctor then carried by stretcher for more than a mile off the hill by team members to a waiting ambulance and transferred to Nevill Hall Hospital.
