A TOWN’S craft group have been awarded funding of £9,890 from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent’s Partnership Fund.
Abergavenny Crafty Women are quids in thanks to the award which benefits charities, voluntary organisations and community groups involved in activities with a positive impact on their communities.??Each group was able to apply for between £250 up to £10,000 from the money available and had to demonstrate how their project delivered against the Commissioner’s police and crime priorities which are crime prevention; supporting victims; community cohesion; and dealing with anti-social behaviour.
?The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, said: ‘I would like to congratulate all the projects funded on their success. The Partnership Fund is a fantastic way of putting money we have seized from criminals back into the public purse so it can be used for positive community action’.??Sue Jones, project leader, Abergavenny Crafty Women said, ‘This is absolutely incredible news. We were facing imminent closure but this funding has given us a year’s security to continue running our two groups and start a third from September.
The grant has given us a huge confidence boost as we move towards becoming a self-sustaining organisation’.
