GWENT POLICE are looking for an absconder from HMP Prescoed who failed to return to the open prison yesterday.
Steven Troop, 26, was convicted of theft in April 2008. He is described as white, 1.9 metres tall, of medium build, with short brown hair and was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms.
Police say he is not a sex offender but may be a potential risk to the public due to the fact that he is no longer in the custody of the prison service.
The force has has activated the operational plan with the aim of locating him and the prison is co-operating fully.
Simon Clarkson, 24, who also absconded from HMP Prescoed yesterday has been arrested in the Gloucestershire area and is currently in police custody.
