An historic Abergavenny hotel has found a buyer keen to redevelop the site into luxury homes.
The Rock and Fountain Hotel, near Abergavenny, sold for more than its guide price of £100,000 at auction over the weekend.
The dilapidated hotel, off the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road at Clydach North, was sold by Paul Fosh Auctions.
The site includes planning permission for a four-bedroom house, with the former hotel likely to be converted to four-bedroom and five-bedroom semi-detached homes.
Matthew Jordan, Paul Fosh Auctions, said, "There was a lot of interest in the Rock and Fountain ahead of the auction and in the end the property sold prior to auction for well in excess of the guide price of £100,000 plus.
"The local buyer was keen to buy the property and to get cracking with redeveloping the site.
"The former hotel is in a really beautiful part of Monmouthshire, close to the border of the Brecon Beacon National Park and just a few miles from the centre of Abergavenny.”
