Dozens of balloons bearing personal messages were released at the climax of a family fun day staged on the playing fields of Heol Hamlin in Abergavenny on Sunday.
The event, which raised £500 for Cancer Research UK, brought together residents from across the estate to help organiser Tammy Elmore.
As well as a barbecue and tombola and bric a brac stalls there were a variety of children’s entertainments on offer including a bouncy castle, pony rides and a sponge throw - with music provided by NH Sound.
The fun day was also strongly supported by local businesses who donated prizes for a raffle that was drawn on the day,
“It all went really well,” said Tammy. “Around 200 people turned up, despite the bad weather, and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“I was also really pleased with the way the community pulled together to help with the organisation - and with the amount we raised.
“We’re planning to do it again next year.”
