A public exhibition will take place at Cwrt-y-Gollen near Crickhowell on July 13th and 14th to gather public opinion on the redevelopment of the former army camp.

Site owners, Crickhowell Estates, together with its new project team, are keen to hear the views of local residents and businesses to help them develop a much-reduced scheme for the site after their original plan for the site was turned down.

The public exhibition will take place in the gymnasium at Cwrt-y-Gollen from 2pm to 7pm on Friday July 13 and 10am to 1pm on Saturday July 14. Local residents, businesses and other interested parties will be able to talk to the new project team and share their opinions on the re-use of the proposed mixed-use site which closed as an army camp in 1999.

A spokeswoman for Crickhowell Estates said: "We remain mindful of the concerns which some local residents and businesses have had about the scheme in the past and we are keen to work with them to ensure that all view points are considered in our new plans for the site. Our aim is to discuss a much-reduced scheme to re-use the site, potentially involving employment creation, community use and new housing. The new scheme is also likely to involve the re-use of existing buildings on site, unlike our previous proposals.

"We see the redevelopment of Cwrt-y-Gollen as being vital in contributing to the long-term future of Crickhowell and Glangrwyney. Our vision remains to make Cwrt-y-Gollen an exemplar development with a mixture of sustainable uses and a range of community benefits.

"However, we can only do this by working closely with the local community.

" Before any new plans are even drawn up let alone submitted, we want to hear the views of as many local people as possible. We are extremely keen to have open dialogue with interested parties and we hope that as many people as possible will take this opportunity to give their views to help us develop new proposals which respond to the genuine needs and concerns of local people."
