A FULL fixture of Gwent Central matches took place this weekend with the performance of the day going to Clydach Wasps' Simon 'Tip Top' Tippings who scored five goals in their 10-2 victory over Llanarth B in the cup.
Last Saturday was the first round of the P&P Pest Control Open Cup and last season's winners Clydach Wasps sent out a warning to the other teams with a 10-2 victory over Llanarth B.
Clydach established a 4-0 half time lead and continued their high scoring in the second half with Llanarth B scoring two consolation goals.
Man of the match Simon Tippings (Pictured in the blue strip) grabbed five goals with a hat trick from Matthew Williams and a goal a piece from Lee Williams and James Powell completing the rout.
The Llanarth B goals came from Justin Chalmers and Rob Hoggins.
Last season's beaten finalists, Blaenavon Blues, also recorded an impressive victory as they proved too strong for Division Two's Llanfoist by beating them 9-2.
The Blues established a 6-2 half time lead with the Blues' goals coming from a James Cox hat trick, a brace from Mark Cheese and goals from Daryl Brenton, Ben Penry, Glen Harvey and Nathan Mapstone.
The goal scorers for Llanfoist were Matthew Johnson and Leigh Brown.
On the Island Usk Town A entertained visitors PILCS and the game could have gone either way after the interval but a strong second half performance from Usk clinched a 5-2 victory.
The goal scorers for Usk included a Carl McEwan hat trick and goals from Adam Hutching and Lewis Thomas.
The goals for PILCS were scored by Mike Murton and Lewis Thomas.
The local derby between Gilwern and District A and Abergavenny Thursdays was a close game but it eventually went Gilwern's way following a simple tap in by Tim Skarretts.
Another high scoring match took place at Panteg Sports Ground where they face Lower New Inn.
The sides were level at half time at 1-1 with New Inn taking the lead through Matthew Lloyd before Nick Scotford equalised for Panteg.
The match finished 5-3 to Panteg after further goals for the home side from a Nick Tudball hat trick and another goal from Matthew Lloyd.
Lower New Inn came back into it through Alex Probert and Gavin Millar but it wasn't enough to progress to the second round.
Division One's Cwmffrwddoer faced Division Two side Clydach B in their first round tie and took the lead through a Mike Passmore Penalty.
Clydach B fought back in the second half and equalised through Ryan Bennett which forced the game into extra time.
Cwmffrwddoer eventually proved too strong and Mike Passmore scored again before two Chris Barry strikes for a 4-1 win.
Extra time also took place in the Fairfield United v Mardy match after the sides were level at 1-1 after the 90 minutes.
Mardy's goal was scored by Joe Morgan with Alan Russell grabbing Fairfield's goal.
The tense match spilled over times with three red cards in the match with Mardy's Justin Swan and Fairfield's David Roberts and Gavin Cook all seeing red.
Fairfield eventually got the deciding goal through Kane Roomas.
In the Open Cup Premiership teams Trevethin beat local rivals Pontypool 8-0 and the sides also met in the league recently which proved much closer with Trevethin winning 2-1.
In the Gwent Central Premier League Pandy beat Llanarth 4-2 but it was Llanarth that held a 2-1 half time lead.
The goals for Pandy came from a Jason Osbourne hat trick and a Kirk Morgan goal with Llanarth's goals coming from Ali Maidment and Gavin Phillips.
The match leaves Pandy in fourth and Llanarth in sixth.
In Division One's midweek fixtures Fairfield United eat PILCS 2-0 and New Inn won their local derby match against Race 2-0.
In Division Two Usk Town B welcomed local rivals Llanarth B to the Island for a mid week match and took a 6-2 half time lead before going to score five more goals to win the match 11-4.
Four of Usk's goals were scored by Steve Wade with three goals coming from his head with the other goals coming from a Will Barton hat trick, a George Ashworth brace and Martin Latham and Ben Willis.
Llanarth B's goals were scored by two Gavin Phillips strikes and goals from Anthony Kromie and Ian Williams. The win puts Usk Town B top of the league with Llanarth B in eight place.
On the weekend fixtures Pontypool Town B had a 5-3 home win over visitors Gilwern B with the sides level at 1-1 at half time.
The Gilwern B goals came from youngster Alex Cowan who grabbed two goals and Tom Russell.
Prescoed as always have started well to their campaign winning two matches out of two in the second division.
They entertained last season's runners-up Trevethin B and ended up emphatic 5-0 winners.
The Prescoed goal scorers were a brace from Robert Peacock and goals from Paul May, Shaun Seivewright and David Brown.
Prescoed are now in second place with Trevethin B holding fifth position.
