Goytre - 0

Llansawell - 2

GOYTRE slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat on Saturday as lowly Llansawell paid a visit to Plough Road and scored all the strikes.

The home team started brightly enough with Jamie Wilkins testing the keeper after only five minutes with a low shot that was saved at the near post.

However, this was as good as it got for Goytre as the two sides locked horns in a poor showing of football and struggled to create any chances.

Until that is, five minutes before the interval, when a dreadful back pass by Lee Waddon put keeper Julian Phillips in all sorts of trouble as his miss-kick fell to a Llansawell striker who lobbed the ball into an empty net.

From the restart a ball into the penalty area by Craig Jollife was latched onto by Lee Grimes who was subsequently pulled down by a desperate tackle from behind.

Unfortunately for Goytre, Grimes picked up a bad shoulder as a result of the foul and had to be replaced by Mark Jones.

More misfortune followed as the resultant penalty by Julian Richards soared just shy of the crossbar, and in doing so, seemed to sum up Goytre's first-half performance.

Into the second-half and Goytre forced a couple of chances. One of which saw Mark Jones send a shot inches wide of the near post.

Minutes later Graham Mason made a superb run and pulled the ball back to Jamie Wilkins. Yet from four yards out Wilkins's shot went straight into the arms of the waiting keeper.

Manager Ian Rosser and Mike Dewar came on as subs, but it was Llansawell who began to finish the stronger.

With ten minutes remaining they sealed the win when a punt upfield by their keeper was watched by the static Goytre defence for Llansawell's Mark Thomas to run thirty yards unchallenged and lob Julian Phillips for his second goal.

After a string of poor performances Goytre now find themselves in the same rut they found themselves in last season, and will have to improve immensely if the are to get anything out of next week's home game against Briton Ferry.
