Newport Corinthians - 2
Govilon - 2
GWENT County Division Two leaders Govilon put in a below par performance in the shadow of Newport's transporter bridge at Corries Coronation Park ground on Saturday.
They lost regular goalkeeper Rob Morrison to an injury during the pre-match warm-up and James Powell was again pressed into emergency duty between the sticks.
They fell behind after four minutes and despite having plenty of possession they could not convert this into any flowing football and the only chance of note in the first half was when Jamie Laurent struck the bar.
They drew level five minutes after the break when goalkeeper Ingram lost the grip of the ball and Richard McCarthy was on hand to bundle the ball over the goal-line.
McCarthy almost added to his tally five minutes later when Ingram failed to hold his fierce free kick but saw the ball scrambled to safety.
Corries regained the lead when awarded a free kick and Watkins' perfect cross was met by Pembridge at the far post whose strike gave Powell no chance.
Govilon forced a succession of corners in the final quarter and it was from one of these kicks and another goal-mouth scramble that Matttew Ham forced their equaliser.
This Saturday Govilon are in cup action and entertain high flying Division One outfit Albion Rovers in the last sixteen of the County Motors Challenge Cup with an early 1.30pm kick off.
Elsewhere in Division Three the Abergavenny Thursdays continued their storming run of form with a 3-1 win over Sebastopol.
