GILWERN and District were put to the sword and cut to ribbons by Premier Division runners-up Pontypool Town on the weekend.
Played at Albion Road, the hosts smashed the visitors to smithereens with a 10-2 scoreline.

Blaenavon Blues had a busy schedule and played three times in seven days.
First off they drew 1-1 away to Race with a goal scored by Karl Haven in the 55th minute.

In their next game, the Blues beat visitors Tranch 4-0 with goals by Lee Carrick, Richard Williams, James Cammage and Brad Jones.

Earlier in the week Mardy suffered a terrible bushwacking at the hand of a merciless Clydach Wasps who thrashed them 9-1.
Tyrone Gravell and Rob Mackenzie both bagged a hat-trick each and Ryan Watkins and Evan Hall both chipped in, aided and abetted by a Matthew Wooles own goal.
Kevin Melville scored a consolation goal for Mardy.

Mardy bounced back later in the week and managed a 4-3 home win over New Inn via a brace from Matthew Wooles and a goal apiece from Gary Barrell and Ryan Price.

After their rout over Mardy, the Clydach Wasps could only manage a narrow 1-2 defeat over Sebastopol on their home turf. Nathan Walls and James Hapgood did the damage for the Wasps.

Man of the match Danny Marfell scored an impressive five goals for his club, Jamie Wilkins bagged a brace, and Stuart Norman, Dwayne Lewis and Gareth Roberts all chipped in.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Prescoed were held to a 2-2 draw by Blaenavon Blues 'B'. Jonathan Arthur scored both goals for the Blues.
Prescoed's strikes came from Graham Reid and James Cadman.
On Saturday, Mardy 'B failed to raise a side to play Prescoed. As a result Prescoed stay top.
