IN the Gwent Central leagues Usk Town welcomed Gilwern and District to the 'Island' and in a closely fought affair beat them 3-2.

Chris Perry opened proceedings with a Gilwern goal and Rod Williams equalised for Usk from 25 yards out to make it all square at the interval.

In the second half Usk's Daniel Jones headed in from a Josh Green throw and Green went onto score Usk's third goal. Andrew McCarthy scored a second for Gilwern but it wasn't enough to stop Usk running out winners and staying top of Division One

Second placed outfit Pandy laid down the law at Lower Meadow as they beat Llanfoist 7-2.

A hat-trick by Robert Didcote, a brace by Kirk Morgan, and one apiece for Steve Hollingworth and Shaun Moss won the day for Pandy. Llanfoist's goals came via Adam Barber and Nick Hammett.

Man of the match for Llanfoist was Luke Ewers.

Clydach Wasps were at home to neighbours Govilon and returned to winning ways with a 7-2 win. Goals came thick and fast from Kyle Cheshire (2), David Gulliford, Evan Hall, Mark Prosser, Doran Reames and Gareth Weed.

Chris Morgan and Lewis Meadows scored the consolation goals for Govilon.

Man of the match for the Wasps was Jordan Powell.

Llanarth recorded a 4-1 home win over Crickhowell courtesy of goals from Jamie Edwards, Peter Maddocks, Steve Morgan and Gavin Phillips. Mike Ling scored Crickhowell's solitary goal.

Mardy were on the receiving end of an absolute mauling by Panteg who thrashed them 12-1. Mardy's consolation goal came off a Panteg player and their man of the match was Adam White.

In a high-scoring affair, Blaenavon Blues beat Fairfield Utd at home 6-4. James Camage led the charge with a hat-trick, Steve White bagged a brace with one strike and one penalty, and Grant Evans chipped in with a solo effort.

Man of the match for the Blues was Lloyd Jefferies.

Prescoed have opened up an impressive lead at the top of Division Two after thrashing Pandy 'B' 11-1.

Man of the match Luke Pearson scored five to take his goal scoring tally so far to 24. The other strikes came via Liam Driscoll (2), Perry Dunwell (2), Paul Dable and Matt Johnson.

Pandy's man of the match Ron Williams scored his club's consolation goal.
