Gwent Wildlife Trust is seeking keen amateur photographers to take part in the charity’s annual Photography Competition, which is zooming into focus on a start date of Saturday August 15.

Judges are looking forward to another extraordinary display of photographic talent from the public and GWT members, and GWT are gearing up to cover their office walls with this year’s offerings.

The competition is very straightforward – limited to a single entry per person, there are two categories: under 16s and 16s and over.

The photograph needs to have been taken in Gwent, at any time, based on the theme of wildlife or Living Landscapes.

All entries should be sent to [email protected] but more information is available on the website: gwentwildlife.org/how-you-can-help/photography-competition. The closing date is Monday August 31.

Shortlisted photographers will be invited to GWT’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday September 16 where the overall winners in each category will be announced.

Rachael Daniels from GWT, said, “We are always bowled over by the high quality of the photos submitted.

“The entries demonstrate a great deal of skill and, in many cases, huge amounts of patience. It shows how committed folk are to observing and recording the wonderful wildlife in Gwent.”

All entries impress and delight GWT but last year’s winning photographs by Gavin Vella and Cerys Barclay (under 16s) of a swift in flight and a dewy spider web respectively particularly impressed the judges.
