A special charity event is being organised at The Angel Hotel in Abergavenny in memory of former mayor Jane Foulser, who died last August.
All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Society, one of the chosen charities of the current mayor of Abergavenny Councillor Chris Woodhouse, who will be attending the evening.
Mrs Foulser held the office of mayor in 2011/12, a year after completing her term as chairman of Monmouthshire County Council.
She worked for 25 years in the physiotherapy department at Nevill Hall Hospital, specialising in hydro therapy activities.
She and husband Bill ran the Musketeers Swimming Club for the disabled for more than 25 years and the Porpoise Swimming Club for more than two decades, teaching hundreds of local children to swim.
For a long time they were also involved in the running of Bailey Park outdoor swimming pool.
In the words of Monmouthshire County Council Leader Peter Fox she was ‘a very well respected and lovely lady and someone who contributed greatly to her community’.
The event at The Angel on March 4 is being organised by Mrs Foulser’s daughter Jane Foulser McFarlane with the assistance of another family member Ms Sheila Hale.
The aim is for the evening to be informal and fun - with a carvery buffet and a live band, along with a fund-raising auction and raffle.
More details of the event along with information on where you can buy tickets will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
