Firefighters from Abergavenny are once again doing their bit for charity.

This year the team are planning to scale the equivalent of Mount Everest while carrying a 100kg ladder.

The lads from Station 40, Abergavenny are planning to do their ladder challenge this month.

They will be taking turns to carry the ladder for five and a half miles which is the height of Mount Everest but instead of going up the mountain they will be carrying the heavy ladder around Bailey Park in alternating teams of four firefighters.

The challenge is all in aid of Cancer Research UK and the Firefighters Charity.

The challenge is on April 16, the same day the service is conducting a recruitment open morning at the fire station.

Anyone interested in finding out more about how to be a firefighter can go along on the day.

Sponsors for the event can also drop into the fire station on the day or via a just giving page - :https://www.justgiving.com/team/STN40laddercarryevent

On the day cash donations for the firefighters charity can be made at the station.

Online donations will be for cancer research UK.
