THE driver of a minibus which overturned while carrying 12 pupils to Cross Ash Primary School, in April, has been fined £130 after he admitted driving without due care and attention.

Numerous emergency vehicles attended the incident in Groesonen Road, which occurred just yards from the school at 8.50am on April 12.

Only one of the children suffered any injury and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for a suspected broken elbow. Paramedics stayed at the school for much of the day to check on the shaken children.

Keith Didcote, aged 60 of Station Road in Abergavenny was driving for the bus company owned by Alex J Watkins of Pandy.

He appeared recently before a district judge at Abergavenny Magistrates Court and along with his £130 fine he was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a mandatory £15 victim surcharge fee.

Didcote also had his driving licence endorsed with five penalty points.

An additional charge of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, was withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service.
