A father and son have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to steal a pug dog in Abergavenny last year.

Thomas Stokes, 47, of Chesterfield Road, Mansfield, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to steal and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Newport Crown Court today.

His son, 23-year-old Martin Stokes, also of Chesterfield Road, Mansfield, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to steal and perverting the course of justice following the incident on October 26, 2015.

Judge Daniel Williams adjourned the case for trial on August 9, at Newport Crown Court.

The pair were granted conditional bail, and cannot enter Wales unless a visit pertains a legal requirement.
