THE FINAL Xmas Factor certainly went out with bang the organisers had wanted Finalists of the Bryn-y-Cwm Community Association event took to the took to the Borough Theatre stage on Saturday as the competition reached its climax.

All acts performed in front of a sell out audience as well as the judges for the evening, Newport based entrepreneur Dennis MacKenzie, choreographer Emma Bollands and Chronicle Editor, Liz Davies who was described by compere Richard Poynter as the judge so mean she could make Simon Cowell cry.

The evening was compered by Richard and Eloise Watkins, who kept the action following despite a few technical problems and even performed a few numbers themselves.

Molly Brickley-Clark proved why she was last years winner by giving a powerful performance of the Ike and Tina Turner classic River Deep, Mountain High to kick start the evening.

The very best of Bryn y Cwm's young talent the took to the stage to entertain a packed Borough Theatre with singing, dancing and telling jokes from artistes included VIG Theatre Company, Joe Pugh, Maddie and Zoe, The Dream that you Wish, Rhys Hobson, Imogen Deacon, Brandon Jones and Emma Powell, Blonde Ambition and Abergavenny Martial Arts.

However, it was the two-girl, hip-hop dancers KMT, who emerged victorious following high praise from the all three judges. The girls were presented with a cheque for £250 from Molly Brickley-Clark.

In second place was singer Christina Rayment while singer/songwriter Frankie Wesson came third singing her own song.

Sharon Lewis said, "It was an amazing night which was about the kids in the Bryn-y-Cwm area who showed everyone how talented they are. My passion for it has grown since the first year."

Along with Lisa Knight-Davies of the Bryn-y-Cwm Community Association Sharon said, "We are grateful to the judges, Dennis MacKenzie, Emma Bollands and Liz Davies and comperes Richard and Eloise who played their full part in making the evening so enjoyable. 

"We also thank the fantastic staff and volunteers at the Borough Theatre without whom the night would not have been possible."
