PUNK’S not dead! It’s just gone underground. Just ask Rumbrave.

The band, made up of members from Abergavenny and Abertillery, are making waves on the punk scene and are set to dial things up a notch when they release their debut album early next year.

The boys in the band have been playing music in various groups since their teenage years, but it was only about two years ago, when the five of them decided to get together and Rumbrave was born.

Lead singer Stan told the Chronicle, “I think a band operates like a gang away and it makes all the difference if you all get on and know each other well. You’re all singing from the same hymn sheet, so to speak!

“In our case we’ve all known one another since our teens and all share a lot of similar influences. We all grew up listening to bands like Flatliners and NOFX, and we’re all passionate about the DIY ethic of punk.”

That ethic has seen the boys travel the UK to play sell-out shows and appear at numerous festivals.

They’re not travelling in style though. They’re travelling in a van, but it’s a labour of love, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Keeping things on a grassroots level is wired into their very DNA.

Stan explained, “There’s no money in it, but it’s all about keeping the spirit of the music alive. It’s great traveling around the country meeting likeminded souls and playing for people who love the music. I don’t think people outside of the scene know how big the punk movement is in the UK. It’s huge. We’ve not long got back from playing the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, and if you’ve ever been there that’ll tell you all you need to know about what a healthy shape the scene is in.”

Slowly building a loyal fanbase who are following them around the country, Rumbrave are proving one to watch, and their debut album “The Last Human Broadcast” will hit the shelves in early 2027.

Stan said, “We’ve poured our hearts into the album and all the songs reflect where we come from and what we believe in, and we hope people will get something from it.”
