CHART-TOPPING pop diva Marina Diamandis has signed an exclusive global representation deal with United Talent Agency after wrapping up a 55-date world tour.
The star, who grew up in Brynmawr and Abergavenny and attended Monmouth School for Girls, released her sixth album Princess of Power last year and has been touring it ever since, with dates including Radio City Music Hall in New York, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Alexandra Palace in London, and the Pepsi Center in Mexico City, plus the Coachella, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Governors Ball, and Bonnaroo festivals.
She also played in Barcelona, Paris and Helsinki, as well as Cardiff's Depot, Bristol's Beacon and Birmingham's O2 closer to home this summer, with reviews raving about the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter's "joyous, nostalgic, disco-heavy" shows.
Marina posted “an ode to getting free” last week after the final show in Finland, saying: "Time to say goodbye to Princess of Power.
"I LOVED the journey this album took me on and the people it brought into my life!
"Three years from start to finish, 55 shows, 300 million streams and a whole team of creative minds that helped me bring the album to life
"Thank you for everything. My fans, CJ, Janelle, Bianca, Merce, BMG, Bethany, Nancy, Olivia, Aerin, Wesley and of course… Miss Salma Hayek. I’m so grateful.
"I love you all!!!"
She also described how Princess of Power, which reached No 7 in the UK album charts, was "now one of my most beloved albums and gave me the most satisfying creative period!"
"Sometimes artists write material in order to become it and this album was exactly that,” she said.
"When I released it last year I didn’t yet fully embody some of what I had written about - just hoped for it and knew the magical powers of writing.
"A year later I couldn’t feel more different.
"The message of the album has always been … IT’S COOL TO BE LOVING! To be open-hearted with the world. To not guard your heart and close down.
"And that you can choose better for yourself at any time. Thank you so much for listening!"
Marina, whose deal with UTA encompasses global representation in all areas, including touring, media, filmed entertainment and brand partnerships, has spoken warmly of her school days at Monmouth School for Girls, saying: “I sort of found my talent there… I had an incredible music teacher who managed to convince me I could do anything.”
After heading to London to find fame and fortune, Marina and the Diamonds hit the big time in 2010 with debut album The Family Jewels which reached No 5 in the UK charts and was certified gold.
Single Hollywood peaked at No 12, while follow up album Electra Heart went to No 1 in the UK, and was certified gold in the US and here, with singles Primadonna and How to Be a Heartbreaker becoming international hits.
She has amassed four billion worldwide streams and is a certified platinum, Ivor Novello Award-nominated singer-songwriter.
Her global online fan base numbers more than seven million and many of her songs are huge viral hits on TikTok.
