THE Cross Ash village hall committee held an emergency public meeting on Tuesday to discuss the future of the community facility.
Many of the current committee have been at the helm of the well used village hall for decades and now they are of an age where they wish to stand down - but nobody had come forward to take their places.
A spokesman for the committee said: "There is a very real possibility that the Cross Ash Village Hall may have to close in the next couple of months as it is proving impossible to find new committee members to take over the running of the hall.
"A lot of new people have moved into the village in recent years, but they don't seem to want to be part of the community."
Cross Ash Village Hall, is an traditional building which fails to meet many of the required standards necessary for hosting the pre-school activity group, which uses the hall five days a week.
Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has been asked to help with their plight and has written to Monmouthshire County Council to press for alternative dedicated premises to be provided for the Cross Ash Under Fives Group, which faces an uncertain future if the hall is to close.
