TWO years ago teenager Sarah Phipps was left fighting for her life with serious head injuries following a mopid crash.

Now Sarah, who is back studying for her GCSE's in maths, psychology and creative writing, would to thank everyone who raised over £2600 at a rock n roll night, featuring Abergavenny's own Elvis, Keith Davies, at Goytre Village Hall in aid of Headway.

Sarah, 18 from New Inn, was on her from college in Cross Keys on December 20, 2006 when her mopid slid on ice, she was thrown 42 foot in the air, landing on her head.

Passer-by Howard Owen of Blackwood, called an ambulance taking her to Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny before being transfered to the University of Wales Hospital Critical Care in Cardiff where she remained in a coma for three weeks.

Following an operation a piece of Sarah's brain the size of a golf ball had to be removed resulting in her having to learn to walk, talk and eat all over again.

Sarah attended Headway, a charity that supports people with a brain injury and those who care for them, for a year long course helping her gain confidence and self-esteem.

Now, largely recovered and has resumed her studies, Sarah and her parents would like to thank everyone who help in her rehabilitation from Headway, critical care and B4 neurology ward at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, and from Rookwood Hospital.

To show their thanks a fundraising event at Goytre Village Hall raised £2610 for Headway which Sarah's father Sean described as a "Godsend."

Sean said, "I would like to thank everyone who came to the evening for their support and generosity."
