POLICE were called to a property in Gilwern over the weekend after an 80-year-old man was found dead in his home.

A spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.

The discovery was made at a property in Common Road just after 2pm on Sunday.

A witness said, "There were a lot of police officers and vehicles at the scene. Some of the officers were wearing white gloves."

The Monmouthshire coroner has been informed.

An inquest will not be opened if the death is found to be by natural causes.
