Llanbedr School near Crickhowell is at the heart of the village community and organises a large number of fund-raising events to help both the school and its ‘neighbours’.
The children have asked all local householders to have a good clear out of unwanted clothing, shoes, cuddly toys and the like in order to donate them to good causes.
To get the campaign off the ground they distributed hundreds of flyers with a list of items required and followed up with a kerbside collection a week later.
The school has worked with the Welsh company ‘Rags to Riches for Schools’ who collect and distribute the donated items, for which the school in return receives money per kilo.
The hundreds of pounds raised in this way over the past few years have helped to fund extra curricular trips and activities, improved the school indoor and outdoor teaching areas and helped to establish a Pre-school Tots and Tiddlers Group.
Another collection is planned for the autumn.
If you would like to donate to the next collection them please call Llanbedr School on 01873 810619
