Crickhowell Rotary duck race draw raised more than £11,000 and this stunning result which included ticket sales, sponsorship, and donations allows the club to restore much needed funds to its charity account and enables the club to disburse half of the net proceeds to five other good causes in the community.
After deduction of costs, bank charges and prize money, the net amount available for distribution amounts to £8,348.
In accordance with the Rotary club’s 50:50 programme, this money will be split between the five ‘good causes’, in proportion to their respective sales totals.
The resulting distribution of funds is as follows:-
Rotary Club of Crickhowell £4,174
Living with Dementia £1,565
Powys Young Carers £977
Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau £593
Crickhowell Rugby Club £559
Crickhowell High School £480
This represents a record amount for the Duck Race, achieved in the very difficult environment caused by the pandemic.
This reflects not only the hard work put in by the Rotary Club, but also wonderful generosity and kindness on the part of the local community.
The draw results were announced at 4.30pm on August 28 outside the Market Hall in Crickhowell by local MP Fay Jones alongside the Mayor of Crickhowell Ann Jeremiah, the Town Crier Tony D’Anni, members of Rotary Club and their ducks including Malvin & Tilly.
The Rotary Club of Crickhowell would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket or provided sponsorship and all the wonderful local businesses for their support throughout their campaign.
On behalf of the club, President David C. Thomas thanked everyone again for the incredible level of support from the community and hoped everyone had enjoyed the Duck Race campaign and the sight of Rotarians dressed in their Duck Costumes selling tickets on Crickhowell High Street.
The Crickhowell Rotary Club looks forward to being of continuing and effective service to the local community in the years ahead.
