MONMOUTH School sixth-former George Orchart has been selected to represent Great Britain in the cadet fencing team.
This result follows a successful summer for George, who won a bronze medal at the UK School Games event in August, and has been selected along with his younger brother Henry to compete in the British Youth Championships due to take place in January 2009.
Both George and Henry, a second form pupil at Monmouth School, qualified top in their respective age groups in the Welsh regional qualification rounds for this championship.
Headmaster Dr Steven Connors said, "We would like to congratulate George and Henry Orchart for what is an excellent achievement in qualifying for the British Youth Championships. George and Henry have proved they are very talented fencers, and we wish them the very best of luck for January."
