The Chronicle’s weatherman Jonathan Powell is predicting that wintry weather could hit Monmouthshire later today
"After a sharp overnight frost, Thursday will start dry across Monmouthshire but give way to wintry weather as a band of rain sweeps in from the southwest," says Jonathan
"As the rain encounters the cold air that has been sitting across the region, it will readily turn to rain then snow for a time.
"There is the possibility of disruption, especially over higher ground where any snow stays as snow, lower levels perhaps seeing the snow turn back to more of a wintry mix of rain/sleet/snow.
"There is also the added risk of icy stretches forming on untreated roads as we head in the evening and overnight. Temperature wise, just 1C or 2C for Thursday, but with a cutting easterly wind, it will feel more like -5C," he said.
