Gilfach Goch - 24
Abergavenny - 10
HOT on the heels of last week's classy and winning performance, Abergavenny were once again served up with the all-too familiar and bitter dish of defeat by a Gilfach Goch side who proved just a little too physical for them.
"Nothing really went wrong in terms of our own performance, it's just Gilfach Goch outdone us up front and in the contact area," revealed coach Gary Lawrence after the game. "We can't complain, and we'll just now have to turn our attention to next week's match at Bailey Park against Ynysybwl and hopefully pick a few points off of them."
Although the claret and ambers took the initial lead in the match through a well-taken drop goal from the boots of Steve Lang, from then on in the Goch took the lead and maintained it.
The only other Aber score in the game came from Ross Bridgeman who scored a try after a quick-tap penalty that caught the home-side napping. The try was converted by Lang, but Aber remained silent thereafter as Gilfach stormed to victory.
