Cromwell - 2
Govilon - 11
GOVILON ran riot at Cromwell's Ringland based ground in Newport as the Gwent County Division Two league leaders stormed to a double figure victory.
The visitors went ahead as early as the fourth minute after Dean Morgan scored a goal of individual brilliance.
On the edge of the box Morgan flicked the ball up into the air and hammered a volley past a bewildered Mike Little in Cromwell's goal.
Morgan grabbed Govilon's second goal on the eighteenth minute mark turning Cromwell's defence inside out, before squeezing the ball past Little and the post for another solo effort. Craig Thomas was next on the score sheet after Matthew Ham's cross was not dealt with and Thomas won the race to side-foot the ball into the net.
An all action Govilon played a slick move as the half hour approached, when Laurent's flick forward set Craig Thomas on a run and his low, hard cross found Richard McCarthy for Govilon's fourth.
Jamie Laurent pushed Govilon further ahead as he tip-toed through the Cromwell defence and completed the mesmerising run when he slipped the ball inside Little's post for a 5-0 interval lead.
The second-half had hardly started before Govilon scored again as McCarthy got his second of the game.
On the fifty minute mark Morgan completed his hat-trick by winning the ball in mid-field and launching a run on goal which saw him increase Govilon's lead to 7-0.
More flowing football followed when Jamie Wilkins played the ball out of defence to Jamie Laurent who sent Dean Morgan on a right wing run, squaring the ball to Richard McCarthy, who controlled the ball in the box and drew the goal-keeper before firing home to become Govilon's second hat trick hero of the day.
Dean Morgan bagged another goal as the game entered its final quarter after benefitting from Matthew Ham's ball into the box.
Cromwell finally found their shooting boots in the 75th and 87th minute, either side of another MCarthy strike, which saw him dribble around Little and gently poke the ball over the goal line.
The final goal of the game fell to a revitalised Richard McCarthy, as he took his match tally to five after Danny Marfell's cross field pass enabled him to fire past Little.
Next Saturday the high-flying Govilon entertain Trinant AFC with a 2.00pm kick off.
