A REPORT detailing the design competition outcome for the regeneration of Abergavenny's Cattle market came under fire at this month's Cabinet meeting.
Members were given information on the conclusion of the design competition and they endorsed the outcomes.
However, comments made by the Chairman of the economy and development select committee and the chairman of the audit and accounts select committee were questioned by the leader of the liberal democrats, councillor Phil Hobson.
In the report it states the chair of the economy and development select committee saying, "The Chairman urges fast progress and expresses the view that the council has been open and inclusive in the way it has managed the process. He comments that the actions of protesters and malcontents have merely served to delay a much needed development and to weaken the viability and attractiveness of Abergavenny."
The second statement read, "The Chairman of the audit and accounts select committee express the hope that thos holding a negative view throughout the process might be encouraged to engage positively. He makes a number of comments to be taken into account in the finalisation of the design."
Councillor Hobson said, "I am sorry that these comments have appeared, it is very unwise and it does not have to be this way. We must respect the thoughts and feelings of members of the public on any scheme or project this council delivers. To say 'malcontent', we should do it with respect."
Leader, councillor Peter Fox said, "If they were more experienced chairmen they would not use these comments."
Councillor Bob Greenland, cabinet member for regeneration said, "I hope we have not reached a point where elected members could not show feelings with dear of upsetting someone."
