New Panteg - 0

IT is a sign of just how far this unbeaten Crickhowell side have come this season when having just recorded six tries away from home, they left the pitch after the final whistle disappointed knowing that had their finishing been a little more clinical they could have probably doubled their score.

However, this was another excellent performance by a team sitting pretty at the top of Division Six East.

Coach Marc Hughes has welded the squad into a team who support and play for one another, and for their part the players have responded magnificently to Hughes' efforts.

In a powerhouse performance which saw six strikes against the head for Tom Powell, and a secure line-out via James Webb and Shane Burton, the visitors were afforded the opportunity to run rampant from the first whistle.

With Ed Jones and David McCarthy scrapping for any loose ball, Crickhowell enjoyed a glut of possession.

However, with over anxious passing, and the odd knock on, Crickhowell were restrained to six tries.

Ben Withey crossed for two, and Rob Ireland, James Webb, Alan Buglar and Shane Burton all took one apiece.

Only one try was converted and James Ralph added a penalty goal.

David McCarthy took the man of the match award as well as starting the try of the game with a quickly taken twenty two metre restart to make a searing break up field.

The ball passed through numerous sets of hands to end up with captain James Webb who was unstoppable from 10 metres out.

New Panteg defended manfully but in truth they were outclassed. Crickhowell can expect a much tougher examination when they entertain Markham this Saturday at Parc Broyd.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
