ABERGAVENNY Town Council pays to have 17 dog waste bins around the town emptied each month by Merlin Waste.

Councillor Tony Potts said the bins at Castle Meadows were filled within two days of being emptied and the council should look at providing more bins there.

The town clerk, Peter Johns said he would talk to the contractor and if ordinary litter was being put in these bins he would talk to Monmouthshire County Council about providing extra litter bins.

Councillor Douglas Edwards said the same problem cropped up last year. "Castle Meadows is really cleaned up at least once a week, but we need more litter bins especially when the weather is warmer. You only have to look at the crowds down the river during the recent warm spell we've had."

Councillor John Prosser said he was pleased that the dog waste bins were being used and the town council was providing a good service.

Councillors agreed to pay £230 to Merlin Waste.
